Barça face biggest exodus
Sergi Nogueras
Of the three teams still in with a shout of the league title, Barça is the one that will be missing most players to internationals this week. 13 Barça players will be away, compared to 9 each from Real Madrid and Sevilla.
The league may be taking a break this week, but that will not be the case for most of the players.
Four more Barça players are off on international duty than either of the club’s main title
rivals will be missing. However, the negative effects on these teams are likely to be much the
same, and none of the trio will be able to train with their full squads until Thursday of next
week.
Plenty of variety
The Barcelona players face a total of 16 different games over the next
few days, while Sevilla players are involved in 14 and Madrid just 12. Barça have players
representing nine different countries (Spain, Cameroon, France, Argentina, Iceland, Portugal,
Holland, Italy and Brazil). meanwhile Reial Madrid has six (Spain, Brazil, Italy, England,
Argentina and Mali) and Sevilla eight (Spain, Brazil, France, Portugal, Denmark, Russia and Mali).
Sevilla and Reial Madrid with Under 21s
Of their nine first team players travelling, Sevilla and Reial Madrid include one each
playing for the Spanish Under 21 side, namely Madrid’s Miguel Torres and Sevilla’s
Alejandro Alfaro. The squad also includes a Barça B player in Bojan Krkic.
