Víctor Valdés believes that despite the disappointment of conceding the last minute goal against Espanyol last weekend, Barça should remain hopeful of winning the title while there is still some hope.
The FC Barcelona goalkeeper recognised that "there is still one game left and we have seen titles
won on the final day". However, he admitted that it would be tough: "From a realistic point of
view, it should be remembered that Madrid are playing at home."
Confidence in Mallorca
The team that stands between Real Madrid and the championship are Real
Mallorca and Valdés stated that he has every faith that the Balearic outfit "will go out to win and
can score in the Santiago Bernabéu". The Barça custodian was also keen to stress that "everything
depends on us winning too, because it will be difficult in Tarragona. Then we will have to wait."
"Whoever wins it will deserve it"
Whoever wins the title will do so with fewer points than champions of
recent seasons with any of three teams only able to record 76 points at most. Valdés explained that
whoever wins the league it will be "because they deserve it" and added that "the season has been
very inconsistent and things have not gone as we would have liked".
Sporting chance
When asked about payments to win games from third parties, Valdés said that has faith in the
passion of desire of all professional players to want to win without needing any financial
incentives. "I am confident that it is all purely sporting," he explained.

Games over prizes
Víctor Valdés understands why Getafe coach Bernd Schuster has allowed goalkeeper Roberto
Abbondanzieri to miss the final game of the campaign, meaning that he will win the Zamora Trophy as
the best keeper of the season. "When I was competing for the trophy a couple of years ago, the
coach decided that I would not play in the last four games and Albert Jorquera took over," Valdés
said. Sitting in second place in the race for the Zamora Trophy, but with no realistic chance of
winning it, Valdés added that he "wanted to play in every game rather than win individual honours".
