Barça Finish Second
Jesús Carrillo
FC Barcelona have ended the 2006-07 campaign with the second best disciplinary record over the course of the 38 league games. Only Recreativo had a better showing.
Yet again, the Blaugrana players have proved that they are the models of discipline on the pitch as
they continued to battle for the league title without picking up many cards. only Marcelino's Recre
prevented Frank Rijkaard's side from finishing o top of the fair play table.
Counting Cards
Over the entire season, Barça were shown 83 yellow cards and seven reds. Deco picked
up the most bookings out of the entire Barça squad as the Portuguese international was shown 14
yellows as well as receiving one red card.
The players that played the most minutes and received the least bookings were Carles Puyol
and Lilian Thuram. The Catalan defender received just three yellow cards and the Frenchman just
two. Víctor Valdés,
who was an ever-present last term
, also received two bookings.
Dismissals
Over the year, Barça saw seven players sent off with the
worst game coming against Sevilla in the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán when Rijkaard's team ended the game
with nine players after Gianluca Zambrotta and Ludovic Giuly were both dismissed.
Four players have been shown direct red cards. Thiago Motta against Real Zaragoza at home,
Deco away at Valencia, Giuly in Sevilla and Ronaldinho in the game against Getafe in Camp Nou.
Clean Year For Recreativo
Recreativo won the fair play honours as they received only 65 yellow card and three reds.
