Rijkaard: “The players did their job”

Frank Rijkaard is satisfied with the players’ performance in the final game of the season against the Mamelodi Sundowns. Barça ran out 2-1 winners and the manager told us: “The players did their job”.

The final match of the season, a friendly against the South African league champions in Pretoria, ended with a 2-1 one win for Barça. Rijkaard was especially pleased with the players’ reaction after the half time break, when Barça came back from a goal down to win 2-1: “In the second half the players played to win the match”.

“It’s important to take action”

Rijkaard was also asked to comment on the press conference held by Joan Laporta on Tuesday: “When the president says something he does so for the good of the club. It’s important to take action. We’re looking forward to starting work again”.

Holidays

However, Rijkaard declined to comment any further on any possible changes, saying that this would be dealt with after the holidays - that is after 21st July. Despite this, he admitted: “It’s inevitable to think about it”. Finally, he publicly wished the entire squad a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
