Holidays until 21st July

A month-long holiday begins this Thursday for the senior squad players. They will be back in Barcelona to begin their pre-season preparations on 21st July.
The friendly against Mamelodi Sundowns (1-2) has brought the curtain down on the 2006-07 season and the players can now begin their holidays. They are due to return on 21st July for a series of medical tests before resuming training.
Messi and Márquez
The two Barça players who are involved in the
Copa America (Messi and Márquez - Saviola has already announced he is leaving the club) have been
given permission to join up with the squad at a later date, after the
tour of Asia
.
Saint Andrews training camp
On 23rd July, the squad will travel to Saint Andrews in Scotland for their first preseason training camp. They will play two friendlies against Dundee United at Tannadice Park on 26th and against Hearts in Murrayfield on 28th. They will then return to Barcelona.
Tour of Asia
After
a few more days of training in Barcelona, the squad will begin a tour of Asia taking in Beijing,
Tokyo and Hong Kong, where they will play a total of three matches, including one on 10th August
against a combined eleven selected from Hong Kong’s two teams. They will then return to
Barcelona for further training ahead of the kick-off of the new season on 25th August.
Three left behind
The Barça party flew back from South Africa without three members of the squad: Thuram, Ronaldinho
and Deco. Thuram has started a UN sponsored tour of Sierra Leona, Liberia, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau
to promote a campaign against the use of child soldiers. For their part, Ronaldinho and Deco left
for Sao Paulo directly from Johannesburg to begin their holidays.
