Central midfielder Yaya Touré has arrived in Barcelona on a flight from Paris.
FC Barcelona and AS Monaco are negotiating the possible incorporation of the Ivory Coast
international in the Catalan club for next season. If terms are settled, the club will shortly be
disclosing the details, as well as the programme for the player’s medical examination and
official presentation as an FC Barcelona player.
Player profile
Although he is still only 24, Yaya Touré already has several years of experience of
playing at the highest level in European football. He signed for Belgian club KSK Beveren in 2001
before moving to the Ukraine and Metalurg Donetsk two years later. In the last two seasons he has
worn the shirts of both Olympiakos and Monaco, where he fits in either as a central midfielder or
in a more attacking role. The player has a remarkable physical presence on the pitch, and couples
this with some admirable skills, which all combined make him an ideal acquisition for the FC
Barcelona midfield.
