Goiko returns to Camp Nou
Anna Segura
Jon Andoni Goikoetxea will return to Camp Nou on Sunday evening as the head coach of Osasuna on the bench as Cuco Ziganda will be watching from the stands as he carries out his suspension.
The former right winger was a key member of Johan Cruyff's Dream Team and will be relishing his
return to Barcelona in such an important role. Goikoetxea is the current number two with Los
Rojillos, but he will promoted for the nightas Ziganda is unable to sit on the bench as he was
suspended following incidents at the end of the game against Sevilla.
Three years with Ziganda
Goikoetxea is in his third season as Ziganda's assistant as the duo
worked together with the club's B side before being promoted to take charge of the first team at
the start of the 2006/07 campaign. The 42-year-old began his playing career at Osasuna and was also
given his first coaching role at the club. Pamplona is his home town, but he will be fondly
remembered by Barça fans too.
Four years with Barça
Cruyff signed Goikoetxea in 1990/1991 from Real Sociedad to bolster the options on the right
flank and during his four seasons at Camp Nou the player won eight trophies, including four league
titles and the European Cup. After leaving Barcelona, Goikoetxea went on to play for Athletic Club
and Yokohama Marinos before returning to Osasuna.
