“We played more boldly in the second half”
Roger Bogunyà
A game of two halves. This is the analysis of the Barça players after the draw in the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
The azulgrana midfielders Xavi and Iniesta, admitted that they were not comfortable during the
first 45 minutes and that it was Sevilla who dictated things in the first half. In the second half,
however, they both agreed that the team played more boldly and aggressively and were sure that the
three points were there for the taking.
Below we offer some of the more interesting statements by the Barcelona players:
Iniesta
“We’ll see what Madrid do but it’s a point and we have to continue
working.”
“We weren’t comfortable in the first half but we improved in the second and we
could have won the game.”
“It’s a point on a difficult ground.”
Xavi
“I’m happy to have given the team a point but
at the end you’re left with a bitter taste because we could have got a win.”
“They played stronger in the first half and we weren’t on form. In the second
half we were bolder and more aggressive, with a different mentality. It was a well contested
game.”
“Keita’s sending off lifted us and we were capable of taking the three
points.”
“Today’s game was difficult. They play at a fierce pace and are a great
side.”
“Let’s see what happens with Madrid. It’s a long road.”
Valdés
“It’s a good point. The first half belonged to
Sevilla and the second to us. I think we could have won the game.”
“The team worked hard in defence. It was a game with a lot of chances for both
teams.”
“I think we are creating chances and the goals will come.”
“We now have to wait for the league leaders to play. If they win, it will be a small
step back for us.”
