Messi: "We need Eto'o's goals"
Àngels Prieto
Leo Messi admits the team is not going through the best of times but trusts in the return of Samuel Eto'o to get the goalscoring going again and put more pressure on Real Madrid.
Leo Messi is concerned to learn that Samuel Eto'o might be injured, but expects the Cameroonian to
be back soon. “We don’t know how serious the injury is, but it would be bad news for us
if he is badly injured because we’ve being waiting for his return” said Messi, who went
on to say that “Eto'o is not our saviour but we need him because of the type of player he is
and I am sure he will be back wanting to score lots of goals which is what the team needs him
for”.
Self-criticism
Speaking at midday promotion for Banco de Sabadell, Messi confessed that “we have not
done as well in recent games as on other occasions” but did not want to see the midfield
shouldering all of the blame for that. “When we win, we all win, and we lose, as well. We
can’t start blaming certain players” he said.
Not concerned about transfers
Messi was also asked about the possible new signings that have been commented in the press,
refusing to discuss the issue by merely saying that “names crop up every year but we
don’t need to worry because, at the end of the day, the only ones that can get us out of this
situation are the ones that are here right now”.
Connection with Ronaldinho
The Argentinian also added that he still considers Ronaldinho to be the star of the team and
the one that people pick out on the pitch because “good things can come out of our
combinations”.
