Windy training
Marc Guillén/Anna Segura
FC Barcelona's first team squad reported for training on Wednesday morning and went through the usual warm down routine the day after a game. The session was affected by the strong wind sweeping through the Ciutat Contal.
Frank Rijkaard had his players in a day after they booked their passage to the quarter finals of
the Champions League with a second leg victory over Celtic, to add to the win in Glasgow two weeks
ago.
Recovery work
The eleven players that began the game on Tuesday evening
were put through a much smoother session then the rest of the players and the work focussed on
recovery. Touré Yaya and Deco remained in Camp Nou to use the facilities there, while Carles Puyol,
Samuel Eto'o, Xavi, Gianluca Zambrotta, Lilian Thuram and Sylvinho spent the first 20 minutes on
the pitch in front of La Masia running and stretching. Immediately afterwards, the players departed
for the changing rooms. Thierry Henry, who played over 50 minutes of the game also enjoyed a light
training session.
Normal session for the rest
The rest of the squad began training with a warm up and the
usual ball games. Ronaldinho and Víctor Valdés, both of whom started against Celtic, participated
in the games, alongside Éric Abidal, Bojan Krkic, Edmílson, Giovani Dos Santos, Eidur Gudjohnsen,
Andrés Iniesta and José Manuel Pinto.
Gaby Milito was not present as he continues to recover from the fever that saw him ruled out
of the game in midweek. Rafa Márquez, Lionel Messi, Santi Ezquerro, Oleguer Presas and Albert
Jorquera were also all missing.
Practice game to finish
After the ball games, Ronaldinho went into change, while the rest of the players carried out
physical exercises with the ball that included sprints. To finish the session, the team split into
two groups for a practice game on a small pitch.
