Goals, thrills and good football

Berta Brau

Goals, thrills and good football. Those are the three main features of games between Barcelona and Villarreal in the eight games that the two teams have played in the Camp Nou.

Since the Yellow Submarine first won promotion to the top flight in 1998-99, they have visited Barça on eight occasions the statistics show that the hosts have won four times, two have ended in a draw and twice the visitors have won.

Healthy average

Three big games

Looking back, three particular games stand out. In 2001-02 Barça defeated Víctor Muñoz side in Camp Nou 4-1 with Luis Enrique, Thiago Motta, Patrick Kluivert and Javier Saviola the Blaugrana scorers, while Víctor replied for the away team.

Last term

Six-goal thriller

2004-05.JPGThe game that saw the most goals scored came in 2004-05 when the two sides drew 3-3. Ronaldinho scored once and Ludovic Giuly twice against Pepe Reina, while Diego Forlán scored a hat-trick for Villarreal in the game that saw Albert Jorquera play for the home team.
