Deco believes that Barça has a good chance against Manchester United. “We have to make and take chances and play in the way we can,” he says.
Deco spoke this Monday lunchtime about Barcelona’s Champions League semi-final tie with
Manchester United. “Whatever happens over the two games, this team has made history and we
want more,” he said.
Anxious to get back
Deco is only thinking about the tie with the Red Devils.
After being called up for the squad against Espanyol, he hopes to make his reappearance in the
Champions League: “I’m fine, I’ve been going flat out for a week. I didn’t
play on Saturday but I’m training well.” He added that “The coach makes the
decisions and I just try to be ready. Of course I would have liked to be out on the pitch on
Saturday as I always do whenever I’m fit.”
Two great teams
A footballer of Deco’s experience knows what Barça has to focus on in the first leg:
“We have to make and take chances and play in the way we can.” The midfielder predicts
an intense game with goals and believes that “being the favourites or not makes no
difference” as “both we and Manchester United have great teams and we just need to play
as we can.”
Understanding Eto'o
When asked about Samuel Eto'o’s comments about his
future, Deco proved understanding. “When you aren’t winning, it’s normal that
there are changes in coaches and players,” he said. “However, this isn’t the time
to be talking about signings and players leaving. The season isn’t over yet; we can still get
to the final of the Champions League and no-one wants to do that more than us.”

Praise for Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi
The Barça v Manchester United clash will also be a duel between two of Portugal’s top
players: Deco and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Barça midfielder was full of praise for his fellow
countryman, saying “he’s a great player, the best in the world” before adding
“along with Messi, of course.”
