The league gets complicated for United (2-1)

Barça’s rival in the Champions League lost away to Chelsea today and only maintains the lead on goal average. Two goals from Ballack decided the tie.
Manchester United rested five key players in the decisive game at Chelsea’s ground, where
they could have lifted the title of league champion, and they paid for it with a loss that
complicates the title for them. With only two games remaining in the Premier, the ‘Red
Devils’ and the ‘Blues’ are deadlocked at the top of the classification, with
Ferguson’s men top on goal average.
Adefensive United
In the first half we saw another very defensive United. Chelsea were in control of the game
and created the only two clear chances. First a shot from Joe Cole struck the post and then, from a
perfect header by Ballack came the first goal on the scoreboard, just before the break.
Ballack finishes off
In the second half Manchester United were more ambitious and
quickly got back in the game. Rooney made the most of an error by Carvalho to beat Czech. Ferguson
then looked for victory sending on Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the five rested after playing the Camp
Nou. In spite of this the second goal came for Chelsea, once again the work of Ballack, from a
penalty (85m).
