Edmílson: “We have to fight for second place”
Roger Bogunyà
The Brazilian Edmílson has admitted that FC Barcelona has to fight now for second place. With ‘La Liga’ practically impossible, the players have to concentrate on gaining direct access to the next edition of the Champions.
The defeat in the Riazor has finished off the options for ‘La Liga’, where the
objective now, confessed Jose Edmílson, is to finish in second place. “Lalig is very
complicated and we have to fight for second place”, he explained. On this Saturday’s
match, the Brazilian admitted that “there have been lots of changes” with respect to
previous compromises and he hopes that the team “is strong again on Tuesday”, when, at
Old Trafford they play for access to the final of the Champions League.
Below are the declarations of the other players who spoke after the Deportivo-Barça:
Pinto
“I was very calm, because I’ve played many games and I’ve experienced this
atmosphere already with Celta. Even worse, because it was a derby”
”I think about playing every week and I never give up hope. I live one day at a
time”.
“If only all our games came out like the Manchester United one. The truth is we
weren’t at the level we would have liked to be”.
”When a player gets the chance to play, he feels satisfied, but its not the result I
would have liked”.
“I’m not so sure that we were thinking about Tuesday. We are giving everything to
La Liga, although it is true that we do have a big match on Tuesday”.
“Deportivo played very well and they made us feel uncomfortable on the pitch. But
mentally we were alright”.
“The result was very negative”.
”Victor Valdés is a great colleague and has helped me since I arrived”.
“The only remedy is to change our chip. We’re saddened by the result, but we need
to turn the page and go to England wanting to win more than anything in the world”.
Thuram
“I think the game changed after the goal”
“Crec que després del gol ha canviat el partit.”
“Before the goal the game was level”.
“I think in order to win you have to score.”
