Players reflect on a hard night
Anna Segura
FC Barcelona's players all agreed that it was a difficult game against Real Madrid and one to forget about after they were defeated 4-1 in the Bernabéu by Bernd Schuster's team.
Thierry Henry and Víctor Valdés both outlined the thoughts within the squad after the game, with
the goalkeeper stating that he felt Madrid were better throughout. Both players also stated that a
strong finish to the season is now required by the Blaugrana.
Thierry Henry:
"It was a difficult night. It is not easy playing against a team that are already the
champions and on top of that in el clásico."
"We have not played a great game, but the referee did not help us. You only have to look at
the first two goals and the foul on Márquez and the free-kick after Sergio Ramos went over."
"They have played a great game and scored early on."
"It is hard for us. It was a very hard evening."
"Now we have to play well and to beat Mallorca and Murcia."
"We had high hopes at the start of the season, but that is sport. We have to finish the
season as well as possible."
Víctor Valdés:
"Madrid were better than us in every sense."
"The results says it all. It is a game to forget all round.
"Every game is hard when you do not win and even more so when it is against Madrid."
"It is a game to forget and a difficult night."
"Seeing how Madrid came forward was a bit disparaging."
"The team went out with the right attitude, but it is true that we were caught on the counter
very quickly."
"Now the season has not yet finished. We have to continue to play and to try and finish
strongly."
