First game in the Nueva Condomina
Jesús Carrillo
FC Barcelona will make their first ever appearance at Real Murcia's Nueva Condomina on Saturday evening because the last time they met the same team in an away game it was at their previous stadium in 2003-04.
The new arena was inauguratd in January 2006 and, therefore, the Pimentonero outfit have played
their for just under 18 months. It is one of the most modern stadiums in Spanish football and has
an all-seated capacity of 32,000.
Up and down
A year ago, Murcia won promotion to la Primera and it was time for
celebrations, but 12 months later and more planning will be done after the team were unable to stay
up longer than one season and have already had their return to la Segunda B confirmed.
The last visit
FC Barcelona played a toal of 17 games in Murcia's previous stadium. The last one was on the
28th day of the 2003-04 campaign when Frank Rijkaard's team won 2-0. It was on March 14, 2004, to
be precise, that Javier Saviola scored before half-time and Ronaldinho added a second after the
break to give the visitors victory.
