Eleven players took part in Thursday morning’s training session, including five players–Fali, Rueda, Urbano, Álex Ruiz and De la Puente – from the B team.
Senior squad players Valdés, Pinto, Gudjohnsen, Bojan, Oleguer and Ezquerro plus the B team
youngsters were put through their paces by Eusebio and Juan Carlos Unzué. Lionel Messi has already
joined up with Argentina squad ahead of Saturday’s friendly in the Camp Nou against
Catalonia.
Meanwhile, Edmílson is feeling unwell and returned home
after speaking to Club doctors. Márquez is suffering from tendonitis and exercised in the gym while
Iniesta and Puyol, who will shortly join up with the Spain squad to prepare for EURO 2008, were at
the Camp Nou but did not take part in the training session. Finally, Samuel Eto'o has already flown
off to Cameroon on international duty.
Exercises and training match
After the usual warm-up exercises, the group worked on a
tactical exercise involving breaking from midfield, passing wide, crossing and finishing off with a
shot or header. The players switched positions to practice all aspects of the move.
The group then divided into two teams for a training match: Pinto, Eusebio, Albert Roca,
Fali, Gudjohnsen, Bojan and De la Puente (blue bibs) and Álex Ruiz, Urbano, Oleguer, Valdés, Unzué
and Ezquerro (orange bibs).
