Four years after leaving for the Premier League, Gerard Piqué is back at a club he wants to see grow. The young defender is thrilled to be back to help the club.
Moments after signing his contract with FC Barcelona for the next four years, Gerard Piqué spoke to
Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat and said his return to club “is a dream come true. It is a
dream to return to Barça. When I left I thought it would be very difficult to come back but now the
dream has come true”.
Only choice
The Catalan defender insisted that he had always hoped to return here and said it was
“my first and only option.” Gerard Piqué added “if there was a chance I had to
try and once Barça and Manchester came to an agreement, it was full steam ahead”.
A big move
The second Barça signing of the close season has said this means “a big move” in
his career and said he suffered several “nerves” before finally signing the contract,
and knowing that he will definitely be pulling on the Barça colours again.
Piqué’s experience
The defender claims he has learned a lot from his time with Manchester United and Zaragoza:
“As a player you grow a lot, in a personal and football sense. In the latter aspect you learn
a lot from being surrounded by top level players. With Manchester we won the Champions League and
that was an unforgettable experience, and an experience I hope I can repeat in a Barça
shirt.”
