Although the club season has finished, four Barça players apart from those involved in EURO 2008 are facing a month of June full of football.
In addition to the eight Barça stars competing in the Austria-Switzerland European Championships,
Messi, Cáceres, Eto'o and Keita are all involved in qualifying matches for the 2010 World Cup.
Messi and Cáceres, in South America
Messi and Cáceres both have games in the South American group. Messi is due to play for
Argentina against Ecuador on 15th June followed by Brazil on 18th.
Meanwhile, new signing Martín Cáceres will turn out for Uruguay in Montevideo: against
Venezuela on 14th June and then against Peru three days later.
The top four in the ten-country group are guaranteed a place in the South African World Cup.
At the moment, Argentina is second and Uruguay sixth. The fifth placed side will get another chance
via the playoffs.
Eto'o and Keita, in Africa
Two of Barça’s African stars also have two vital World Cup
qualifiers. Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o will face Tanzania twice, on 14th June (away) and
on 21st (at home).
Mali international Keita has two games against the Sudan, away on 14th and home on 22nd.
Cameroon and Mali currently head their groups and are on the right track to qualify for the
next round.
