The Henry Effect in Scotland

Miriam Nadal

The arrival of Thierry Henry at FC Barcelona has already had an affect on ticket sales as the friendly against Hearts saw a rise in demand.

On July 28, Barça will take on Heart of Midlothian at Murrayfield and the 'Henry Effect' is being felt in the Scottish capital as an increase in the sales of tickets for the game rose after the Frenchman completed his transfer to Camp Nou.

Up until last Monday, the day before Henry officially signed, 24,000 tickets had been sold, meaning that around 1,900 were being sold per week on average. In the seven days since his arrival some 3,600 tickets have been snapped up, 1,700 more than the any other week.

Those responsible for the organisation of the game have stated that the increase is down to the arrival of Henry. Fans in Britain are keen to see how the former Premiership star performs in his new colours and are preparing to descend on Murrayfield to see the French international in action.

Alongside Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi, supporters want to see Henry and that has been only good news for Hearts.
