Hong Kong ready to welcome the new Barça
David Saura
Barça will not be going unnoticed in Hong Kong, where they will be playing the last of their three games in Asia. 1,200 people spent all of last night outside the ticket offices to make sure they were among those that will get to see the game.
Frank Rijkaard’s squad will play Mission Hills Invitation XI in Hong Kong, a side that will
combine players from both of the territory’s biggest clubs (Kitchee FC and Happy Valley FC)
in what should be a packed stadium. Judging by scenes at the ticket offices today, it should be a
capacity crowd.
Long queues
1,200 people stayed overnight outside the ticket offices to make sure they
had their tickets. In compensation for this amazing show of devotion, the club gave all those
people refreshments and free tickets to watch Barça train in Hong Kong.
Half the tickets already gone
Only 20,000 tickets are left for the game in the Hong Kong Stadium, the biggest open-air
facility in this special administrative zone which is now under Chinese control. That’s
amazing considering the game is not going to actually be played for another three weeks.
