Xavi: "We aim to win everything"

Roger Bogunyà

After the first two days of pre-season training Xavi believes that confidence is high among the FC Barcelona squad and that the club is capable of having a successful season.

The 27-year-old said that Barça will have "a great team" that will be able to play for all the trophies on offer next term. "We have to work hard and be ready," he continued. "There is a great feeling."

Talent show

With the four new arrivals at the club adding to a star-studded set of players, Xavi stated: "It is the strongest squad that I have seen here in terms of talent. Every year there is even greater competition."

Reflecting on the signings of Thierry Henry, Yaya Touré, Éric Abidal and Gaby Milito, he added." They are of the highest level and will help and will help keep the competitiveness high."

Fantastic Four

Barça-Madrid

Before the start of every season, Barça and Real Madrid are always seen as favourites for the title and Xavi believes that "it is logical that due to the history of things we will be fighting for it again this term". Despite that, he remained prudent and added: "We cannot forget the other teams that will be up there, however, like Sevilla who had a great season last year."

Saviola

Javier Saviola's switch to Madrid also caused Xavi mixed feelings. "I wish him all the best on a personal note, but not for his team. It is a bitter-sweet thing, because he is a close friend, but is playing for a direct rival of ours."

A week in Scotland
FC Barcelona travel to Scotland on Monday and will continue their preparations for the season there and Xavi is looking forward to it. "I think the week in Scotland will go very well as the plan to train twice a day will be very important," he explained.
