More fitness work

Frank Rijkaard’s Wednesday morning training session subjected the players to some especially demanding physical work.
In Barça’s first training session of the day ahead of tomorrow’s friendly against
Dundee United, the players continued working to get their full fitness back. It was probably the
toughest session they have endured so far.
Heart rates monitored
Each player trained with heart rate monitors on their wrists in order to get a statistical
count on how they are coping with the workload. They also continued with the lactate tests that
started on Tuesday.
Circuit training with shot on goal
The training began with the usual warm ups and drills. They then tackled a huge obstacle
course that featured cones and hurdles, followed by a dribble and a sprint on goal. The coaching
staff fed them balls towards the end of the exercise, which involved a spot of target practice.
The huge crowd gathered to watch Frank
Rijkaard’s side training included members of English League One side Carlisle United. Before
the session, several Barça players posed for photographs with the two captains of the Saint Andrews
University team and the president of the University’s Sports Association.
