Ronaldinho de Asís Moreira completed the formalities to become a Spanish national on Monday morning at a civil registry near Barcelona. Ronaldinho therefore no longer occupies a non-EU national palace in the Barca squad.
Just before ten o’clock this morning, Ronaldinho completed the final stages of his
nationality application at the Civil Registry in Gava and was formally given dual Spanish and
Brazilian nationality. The process has been overseen by the lawyers Jorge Pecourt and Eduardo
Montejo, from Cuatrecasas Abogados and the club’s own judicial services.
With Ronaldinho no longer occupying a non-EEC place in the squad, Barca have a vacancy for a
non-European, with Samuel Eto'o and Touré Yaya occupying two spots, whilst Mexican youngster
Giovani dos Santos is expected to be given dual nationality himself in the next few days.
