Eight new players
Jaume Marcet/Sergi Nogueras
For Wednesday’s match, Frank Rijkaard has called upon 15 players from Barça B. It is a great opportunity for the young players to show their quality.
There were a number of
new faces
at Monday’s training session. www.fcbarcelona.cat has put together a series of profiles
of the new players that are joining the first team for the first time. The following is a
presentation of the eight players that are set to make their debuts tonight against Girona.
David Córcoles
Arrived this season from Valencia B. In fact, given the alarming number of injuries suffered
by the first team last season, he even managed to make his Champions League debut. Córcoles is 22
years old and is a speedy defender and great goalscorer. He made his debut for Barça B in their
first game of the season at Premià.
Dimas Delgado
This midfielder travelled with the first team to Saint Andrews and Asia before the season
started. Dimas signed last season from Gramenet. He can play both as an inside right and central
midfielder, or even full back. He will turn 24 in December.
Daniel Toribio
Joined Barça in 2003 and this is first year with Barça B. He is a well-built midfielder.
Daniel Toribio was born on October 5, 1987, and is part of the Youth A side that won the league and
cup double in 2005/06 along with the likes of Giovani, Bojan and Jeffren.
Emilio Guerra
One of the newest Barça B players, Emilio Guerra is 25 and a centre forward who was at
Zaragoza B last season. He scored 42 goals in the Third Division, making him the top scorer in all
national categories.
Xavi Torres
Just joined from Alicante, a side that narrowly missed out on promotion to Second A. He is
making the most of his first few weeks at Barça, and has already proven his leadership qualities.
Xavi Torres can play either as a central defender or in a more advanced position.
Víctor Espasandín
Played in Second A last season for Ponferradina. Espasandín turned 22 last March and is a
left back. He has already shown his usefulness in the B team, covering the length of the pitch and
also showing his class shooting and crossing ability.
José Manuel Rueda
Has risen up through the youth ranks at the club, where he had been for 7 years. Rueda is an
attacking midfielder, although he has also played up front. He is skilful and makes penetrating
runs at the tender age of 19 and in his first year with Barça B.
Eneko Fernández
23 years old and like Emilio Guerra has come to Barça from Zaragoza B. Eneko can play on
either wing, and is a strong but mobile player, and a fine distributor of the ball.
