Albert Jorquera has defended FC Barcelona's youth team policy and is delighted to see the club producing more home grown players with the emergence of Bojan Krkic and Giovani Dos Santos.
The goalkeeper attended Friday's press conference and used his time in front of the media to
explain that he feels that when players progress through the club and eventually make it into the
first team it is the fruit of a lot of hard work. "Barça have the correct philosophy," he said.
Youthful players
With Dos Santos and Krkic on the verge of becoming full-time members of
Frank Rijkaard's squad, Jorquera explained that it was never easy to make it all the way to the
top. "We know that it is very difficult to make it to the first team and that it has been even
harder for these two youngsters because they have come through at Barça, a club that is always
looking for the best players in Europe and the world," he explained. "The fact that they are both
from the youth ranks is significant and means should be valued."
Added motivation
Jorquera then looked ahead to the new season and said that he understands the high
expectations surrounding the club after missing out on a major trophy last term. "What happened
last year still hurts and motivates us," he said. "Everyone is disappointed about the events at the
end of last season, not only the board and the fans, and it is normal that hopes are high now."

Madrid’s start
Albert Jorquera was asked for his thoughts on Real Madrid's strong start to the new season, but he
remained prudent about making predictions. Despite recognising the quality in the squad of Barça's
main rivals, he was not ready to believe that things will continue in the same way. "They have a
good side and have started well, but it is only the start of the season and there is a long way to
go," he said. "The season is very long and it is only important where you are at the end."
