Wednesday training session
Berta Brau / Vanessa Forns
With most of the first team still away on international duty, there were just five players from the senior squad at Wednesday morning’s training session.
Valdés, Jorquera, Sylvinho, Oleguer and Ezquerro began training at 11 am. The focus of the
50-minute session was on the physical recovery of the players after their efforts against Nàstic in
Palamós. The players spent about 30 minutes on ball control exercises and then finished off the
session with jogging.
Touré receives treatment
Ivory Coast midfielder, Touré Yaya, is the first of the international contingent to return to
Barcelona. However, he is carrying a knock to his right knee and so received physio treatment and
did not train with the rest of the group.
Puyol trains alone
Once again, Carles Puyol trained apart from the group in order to continue with his recovery
from a knee ligament injury. He spent the first part of his individual training session working on
improving his general fitness and stamina levels.
Puyol then did some circuits of the pitch, changing his pace and ending with a shot on goal.
He also practised passing, ball control and headers.
Valdés with Unzué
Víctor Valdés, who did not take part in the match against Nàstic, spent the first part of the
session working with the group and then trained separately at the orders of goalkeeping coach Juan
Carlos Unzué.
