Messi keeps his feet on the ground

After last night’s stellar performance, Barca star Leo Messi is refusing to let the plaudits go to his head and he insisted to reporters at the Nou Camp today: “I’m still growing as a player and I’m just one more in this squad”.
Leo Messi is clear that the fortunes of the squad are more important than any personal achievements
and when asked about his chances of wining the Golden Ball award this year he made his feelings
quite clear: “I’m not even thinking about that, it’s not onmy agenda –all I
want is the best for Barca”.
Important win for the fans
The win against Lyon last night was the main point of discussion at the
press conference and Messi stressed: “the result was specially important for the fans, since
we’ve perhaps not been putting in the performances of late and last night just shows we are
in fact on the right track. If the team clicks and we have confidence in ourselves, there’s
no question but that we can carry off a victory against anyone”.
Ronaldinho, “the best in the world”
Ronaldinho has been substituted in the last two games, but Messi doesn’t reckon the
Brazilian’s star is in any way on the wane: “he’s still the best in the world and
a key player for the team. No player enjoys being taken off and I can understand his
reaction.” Messi went on to admit: “the team obviously plays better when he’s on
song – he gives us a lot more mobility”.
