Six scorers in first six games
Sergi Nogueras
FC Barcelona have already shown this season that they are playing as a team with no less than six different players having scored in the first six official games of the campaign.
The goals have also come from all area of the pitch too, with defenders, midfielder and forwards
chipping into help the side remain unbeaten in the opening weeks of the term. Ronaldinho, Thierry
Henry, Rafa Márquez, Andrés Iniesta and Lionel Messi have all registered their names on the
scoresheet and the list is sure to continue to grow.
Messi tops the charts
Out of the six, Messi hass been the most effective with four
goals to his name to make him the joint top goalscorer in the Spanish top flight. Atlético's Sergio
Agüero, Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi, Sevilla's Frédéric Kanouté and Real Madrid's Wesley Sneijder
also have scored four times so far. Messi has also scored in the Champions League too as he netted
one of Barça's three goals against Lyon last week.
Two newcomers
Two of the Blaugrana's summer signings have bagged their first goals for the club withThierry
Henry scoring in the Champions League win against Lyon recently, while Touré Yaya scored a superb
effort against Athletic Bilbao in the league.
The same position
Two of the other goalscorers for the team have been
Ronaldinho and Andrés Iniesta. Curiously, both players have registered their goals while playing in
the same position on the left side of the three-pronged attack. The Brazilian netted twice against
Athletic Bilbao, while Iniesta scored against Real Zaragoza on Wednesday.
Nine months later
Of the six players, Rafa Márquez is, perhaps, the most unusual as he had not scored at all
for the Blaugrana since January. The Mexican international stole forward to head home the fourth
goal against Zaragoza in midweek.
14 players last season
Last season, Barça had 14 different players score goals for the team. Carles Puyol, Rafa Márquez,
Xavi, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Ludovic Giuly, Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Gianluca Zambrotta, Gio Van
Bronckhorst, Santi Ezquerro, Leo Messi, Deco, Javier Saviola and Andrés Iniesta all scored.
