Winning streak and home record stretched
Miriam Nadal
Sunday’s win over Atletico Madrid made it six wins on the trot this season and in all, 30 league games undefeated at the Nou Camp – the best run of results since February 2006.
Starting with the 3-0 win in the Champions League against Lyon, Barca had beaten Seville (2-1),
Zaragoza (4-1), Levante (1-4) and Stuttgart (0-2) before Sunday’s win over the Madrid team
and the results are most definitely a good reflection of the at times brilliant football
Rijkaard’s men have been playing.
Six wins on the trot
Last season’s best run started last Autumn with a 4-0 win over
Badalona in the cup and was followed by four more wins on the run against Zaragoza, Mallorca,
Levski and Villarreal, before being held to a 1-1 draw at Levante on December 2nd.
Thirty games unbeaten
Barça are unbeaten in the 30 league games played since 5th February 2006 at the Nou
Camp, when Sunday’s vanquished foe Atletico Madrid beat them1-3. During that season, Barca
also drew three times – against Valencia, Zaragoza and Real Madrid, whilst the following
season they only failed to win on five occasions, drawing against Valencia, Real Madrid, Betis,
Atlético de Madrid and Espanyol. In all, Barca have won 22 of the last 30 games at home and drawn
8.
100% record so far
This season, it’s been all wins at the Nou Camp, with Barca overcoming Athletic Bilbao,
Seville, Zaragoza and Atlético de Madrid.
