Zambrotta replaces Márquez in the squad
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Rafa Márquez has been left out of the squad to face Getafe after failing to recover from a calf strain and has been replaced by Gianluca Zambrotta, after he missed the game against Rangers in midweek.
The Mexican international suffered the injury during the
warm-up for the Champions League encounter against the Scottish outfit on Wednesday evening and has
been unable to shake it off in time to make the trip to Madrid. Márquez trained on the pitch in
front of La Masia on Friday and had a late fitness test, but Frank Rijkaard preferred not to risk
him. When he will be back in action will be determined by doctors over the next few days and he
could be available for the game in Alcoy on Tuesday.
To bolster the defence, Rijkaard has recalled Zambrotta to the squad after a slight injury
meant that he was not chosen for the visit of Rangers, but he has since been given the green light
to play by club medics.
Iniesta ready
There was good news for the Blaugrana as Andrés Iniesta was
told he was fit after the blow to the knee that he suffered in midweek is not serious and he
trained without any problems in the behind closed doors session in Camp Nou on Friday morning.
The squad
Valdés, Jorquera, Zambrotta, Puyol, Thuram, Milito, Oleguer, Abidal, Sylvinho, Touré Yaya, Xavi,
Iniesta, Gudjohnsen, Giovani, Bojan, Ronaldinho, Henry, Messi.
