Change of scenery
Marc Guillén / Vanessa Forns
The available FC Barcelona first-team players have trained at the club's Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Wednesday morning along with members of the B team squad.
After two days on the pitch in front of La Masia, there was a change of plan in midweek as the
players took to pitch number three at the new training ground just outside of the city. The focus
of the session was on the 50-minute practice match, which was played at an intense level and saw
Eidur Gudjohnsen become the star.
Young stars
Like on Tuesday, the first-team players have not trained alone as they were joined by
several youngsters to help them in their preparations for this weekend's encounter with Recreativo.
After the warm-up exercises, that lasted around half-an-hour, the players split into two groups for
a game of 25 minutes per half.
The teams
On one side were Jorquera, Sylvinho, Oleguer, Márquez, Fali, Toribio,
Marc Crosas, Gudjohnsen, Jeffren, Bojan and Eneko, while the other team consisted of Pau, Córcoles,
Botía, Valiente, Espasandín, Xavi Torres, Víctor Sánchez, Abraham, Iago Falqué, Guerra and Urbano.
On the bench were Gai Assulin, Busquets, Pedrito and Víctor Vázquez, who were all given a run out
in the second half.
Gudjohnsen makes the difference
The game was played at high speed and pressure mounted, but there were
few clear chances on goal being created. At half-time the score-line remained goalless, but after
the interval the deadlock was broken when Gudjohnsen found the net.
Marc Crosas won possession in midfield and picked out Bojan Krkic, who in turn found
Gudjohnsen and the Icelandic international shot first-time at the near post and celebrated as the
ball nestled into the corner of the net.
