Xavi stresses change in attitude

Jesús Carrillo

Xavi Hernández was well pleased with Barca’s progress into the UCL knock out when he spoke to reporters at the Nou Camp this morning and he insisted that the positive mentality of the squad had been key in the recent run of fine form.

The Catalan midfielder commented: “since the Getafe game our attitude has really improved, we’ve rolled up our sleeves and got down to work and are going out to win right from the start. We’re much more positive now”.

Saturday’s derby

Marc Ingla, Edmilson and Ronaldinho

Xavi also dealt with a number of issues which have been surrounding the team, firstly commenting on the presence of new Sporting Director Marc Ingla: “he told us here was here to help and just like us, he was after the best for the team and for the club”. Edmilson’s recent declarations were also brought up, but Xavi insisted: “that’s something which is done and dusted and sorted out amongst the squad”.

Finally, Xavi assured the media that Ronaldinho had reacted well to his sitting on the bench on Tuesday: “he took it well – it’s just part of football and I think the best thing would be to give him some space. He really reacted well and if the boss takes that decision then that’s all there is to it”.

385 games
Tuesday night’s game was Xavi’s 385th in a Barcelona shirt and he’s now 9th in the list of the club’s all time players having overtaken Guardiola. Though he’s still quite a way off Migueli’s mark of over 500 appearances, Xavi’s still keen to play on, commenting: “I just want to keep playing many more games with my club and my team and I want to win as many as possible and take as many titles as we can.
