Edmílson rejoins the squad
Berta Brau / Jordi Clos
Five months after his knee operation, Edmilson was back with rest of the squad for training on Thursday morning, whilst Messi and Gudjohnson, with slight muscle strains trained apart from the rest of the group.
José Edmílson did some warm up exercises before joining the rest of the players for some ball
control work. Giovani dos Santos who’d also been working on his own as he gets over his ankle
injury, also joined in at this point.
Messi and ‘Guddy’ preparing for Montjuic
The only four squad members who didn’t work out at the
Masia were Thuram, Henry and Oleguer, who were working on their own recovery programmes on the Nou
Camp pitch, and Sylvinho whose got knee trouble and stayed in the gym. After a gentle workout at
the Masia, Leo Messi and Eidur Gudjohnsen, both with slight muscle strains, went into the gym to
prepare for Saturday’s game against Espanyol.
Possession practice
After their ball control work, the squad then did some
circuit training for speed practice and then split into two groups to maintain possession. The two
groups, with Xavi and Iniesta moving between both groups, were: Ronaldinho, Edmílson, Milito,
Puyol, Touré Yaya, Marc Crosas and Roca (trainer) on the one team and Ezquerro, Eto’o,
Abidal, Márquez, Zambrotta, Bojan and Giovani on the other.
The session ended with some shooting practice.
