Activity for injured players
Berta Brau / Vanessa Forns
Although the first team has no training until Tuesday afternoon, the players recovering from injury reported for training as normal on Sunday.
After the away draw at Espanyol, manager Frank Rijkaard decided to give the squad two days off, but
for the other players it was routine as normal at the Camp Nou on Sunday morning.
La Masia and the gym
The players were Edmílson,
Sylvinho, Eto'o, Thuram, Deco, Oleguer and Henry, while some of the players that did play against
Espanyol also reported to the club, namely Puyol, Iniesta and Gudjohnsen. Puyol worked out on the
field, Iniesta received treatment for some minor knocks in the gym and Gudjohnsen continued with
preventative measures on his isquiotibials.
Deco in isolation
Edmílson, Sylvinho, Eto'o, Thuram, Puyol and Deco all trained on La Masia’s
pitch. Deco was accompanied by one of the fitness coaches and did a series of physical exercises,
including ball control and passing, before running at different speeds.
Puyol in goal
The rest of group was supervised by fitness coaches Paco Seirul•lo and Albert
Roca, staring with circuit training to work on strength, speed and resistance with the ball. They
then tackled an obstacle course that ended with shots on goal. Oddly, Puyol, who had been jogging
and stretching up to this point then offered his services as a goalkeeper for this exercise.
Once this was over, the captain retired to the dressing rooms, while Eto'o, Edmílson and
Sylvinho continued with their target practice. In the meantime, Thuram, continued circuit training
under the watchful eye of Albert Roca.
