Eto’o: “I felt great”
Vanessa Forns
After his three and a half month layoff, Samuel Eto’o reckoned he felt “great” to be back and “happy” with the win over Deportivo
Eto’o stressed the great effort the team had put in to beat Deportivo: “their early
goal made it difficult for us”, whilst praising the reaction from the fans: “I’d
like to thank the fans for the way they greeted me. The ovation they gave me when I came off for
Bojan was a great feeling for me”.
Some of the other players reactions are detailed below:
Puyol
“This Sunday’s win was really important. It was a difficult game and those three
points were very, very important”.
“Deportivo were very well organised on the pitch and they played a
great game. They are a good team who are just a bit short of luck right now”.
“Eto’o’s return was good news for us all. We have to make sure we
don’t push him too quick, he’s an important player for us”.
“Deco worked well, he’s a player with a lot of character and you can really
notice it when he’s on the pitch”.
“When we scored the fans really began to lift us”.
Iniesta
“It was an important win. We maybe didn’t play like we have been recently, but we
had to get the three points and that’s what we did. We are still four points off the leaders
and that was what counted”.
“Deportivo’s early game made it harder for us to find our rhythm, but we worked
hard at it and in the end we did turn things around”.
“Eto’o’s return brought us a lot – his enthusiasm is contagious and
it’s great to have him back with us”.
Sylvinho
“Deportivo made us suffer a lot. It was one of those games where the points were the
most important thing”.
“Cristian’s goal meant we were chasing the game and you have to value our effort
in turning the result around”.
“Ronaldinho looks happier every day – the only thing he wants is to be
playing”.
“I’m pleased with my own performance and the team’s win”.
