Sylvinho: "I am focussed on Barcelona"
Anna Segura
Sylvinho has denied that he wants to leave FC Barcelona during the winter transfer window and stated that he is keen to see out the remaining seven months of his contract because on a personal level “I am pleased with the games that I have played”.
The Brazilian full-back spoke to the press on New Year's Day after training at Camp Nou and spoke
about the team's impressive form and his situation at the club after rumours had suggested that he
could leave.
Happy at Barça
Reflecting on the stories connecting him with other clubs,
Sylvinho stated that “I have my mind focussed on Barça” and stated that he does not
want to leave before his current contract ends in July.
This season, the 34-year-old has played eight times for the Catalan outfit and he is pleased
with the chances that he has been given. “I am pleased with the games that have played
in,” he stated. “But of course, I always want to play more.”
A difficult month
Barça return to action after the festive break this weekend and Sylvinho is aware that they
must be focussed. “January is as important a month as the others” he explained as Real
Mallorca prepare to visit Camp Nou. “They are a team that can complicate things and they have
won points here in the past.”
Tricky fixtures
In the next few weeks Barcelona face some “difficult games”,
according to Sylvinho “ and there will be plenty of matches where things will be
anxious.” For that reason, the Blaugana's lead at the top of the table is vital, he added.
Game-by-game
After the festive break, Barça return to action and Sylvinho is keen for the run of good form
to continue. “We cannot think about winning sequences each time,” he said. “We
have to work hard and we will then improve and continue to pick up points.”
