Three points for first half of season record
www.fcbarcelona.cat
With two games to go before the halfway point in the season, Barça is three points away from the best ever first half to a League campaign. Guardiola’s side is outstripping legendary Barça predecessors.
So far Barça have picked up 44 points out of the 51 on offer, meaning it needs just three more to
equal the record for the first half of the season. Since three points for a win was introduced in
1995/96, the highest total has been achieved by Real Madrid, who at the halfway stage last time
round had 47 points. That’s just three more than Barça’s current total when there are
still two games to go.
Better than legends
Barça’s 14 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in
the 2008/09 season is the best start to a League campaign in the club’s history. Pep
Guardiola’s side has thus bettered the records of Frank Rijkaard’s men in 2005/06 and
Johan Cruyff’s outfit in 1990/91, who after 17 games had 13 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat.
