Training in front of the fans

Jordi Clos

The FC Barcelona first team has trained in front of no less than 3,100 supporters in Miniestadi on Wednesday morning in a light session that saw the players that appeared against Atlético de Madrid the night stop after 25 minutes.

Having won 1-3 in Vicente Calderón the Blaugrana stars the night before, Pep Guardiola took charge of a training routine in front of the fans. Over 3,000 watched from the stands in the stadium with the majority being children who were not affected by the cold temperatures in the Ciutat Contal.

Easy session

The starting eleven from the game against Atleti were the first to return to the changing rooms, as they trained for just 25 minutes. After leaving the pitch though, the players stopped and signed autographs with many of the fans wanting Lionel Messi’s signature.

Márquez recovering

Goal celebrations

The last section of training was a small-sided game that lasted just over an hour. Every goal that was scored was celebrated by the fans with great passion and Samuel Eto’o hit the net most often.

A good feeling
The players told Barça TV their thoughts about training in front of the fans after the session. “It is obvious that they come to matches, but in training we are often on our own and it was very good,” Gerard Piqué said. “It is a new thing for me and it is proof that we are doing well because the fans were very excited,” Dani Alves added. “This really does show that this is more than a club.” Martín Cáceres explained that the win in the cup had lifted people too. “I think that the result made people want to come out and see the team.”
