Xavi Hernández admitted that “we began the second half badly, but in the end we deserved to win. We’re proud and you can see that out on the pitch.”
The match at Reyno de Navarro was Xavi’s 300th in the League for Barça. “Things go so
quickly and you have to take it on a day-by-day basis,” he commented. He was able to
celebrate the achievement with the goal that brought Barça back into the game at 2-2.
All the players agreed on the importance of being able to make a comeback after falling
behind and that matches like this one show you can’t rest on your laurels:
Piqué
“There’s wasn’t much time and it was a tough haul, but we did the necessary
and in the end we won.”
“They caught us cold at the start of the second half and got back into the game.”
“Now everyone’s saying how good we are, we’ve got to keep our feet on the
ground because you can lose matches as we almost did today.”
“Both Xavi and Messi deserve to be FIFA World Player. We hope it’ll be one of
them.”
Valdés
“We dropped our game and let them back in because we were much the better side in the
first half.”
“They got two goals and the game was looking none too good but luckily we were able to
do something about it.”
Messi
“We knew it would be a tough game because of the ground and the other team. The most
important thing is we’ve won and got the three points.”
“I was lucky enough to see the shot go in. I’m happy and we’re all chuffed
that we could come from behind and win.”
About the controversial incident:
“Busquets was on the ground and I stopped and they took the ball and almost scored.
After that the ref did stop the game when one of them was down. It could have turned out bad for
us.”
“I’m not worried about the FIFA World Player, plus I’ll be going with Xavi.
The most important thing is that the team wins and things go well.”
