Two away from goal 5,000
Berta Brau
Barça carry on scoring and getting nearer goal number 5,000, thanks mainly to the work of Henry, Eto’o and Messi, who between them account for 71% of the team’s goals.
Barça are getting close to the 5,000 league goals mark, and after the four scored against Numancia,
the Blaugranes, they are now just two away. This target has had a great boost this season, with 63
league goals so far.
Key scorers
Henry, Eto’o and Messi are mainly to thank for this, and with 45 goals between them,
account for 71% of the team’s goals. Of the three strikers, Eto’o has 19, Messi 14, and
Henry 12, and they are also among the top scorers in the league, with Eto’o number one.
Scoring average
So far in 2009, each player has an average of one goal per game in the
league, which is difficult enough for just one player to achieve, let alone three in the same team.
Eto’o and Henry: 4 games and 4 goals
Both the Cameroon player and the Frenchman have been
unstoppable in 2009. Eto’o has four goals from as many games (one against Osasuna, two
against Deportivo and one against Numancia), and Henri has the same average (one against Mallorca,
two against Osasuna and one against Numancia).
Messi
Messi has scored four goals in three games (one against Osasuna, one
against Deportivo and two more against Numancia), and he is the only one who has scored in
consecutive games in 2009.
The blaugrana number 10 has also scored three goals in three cup games, which also gives him
a one-per-game average.
