Leo Messi has been named in the Argentina squad for the friendly with France on February 11. This could mark Messi’s debut under Diego Maradona.
After not being included in Diego Armando Maradona’s side for the game in Scotland last
November, Leo Messi will be in the side that lines up against France on February 11 in Marseille.
Meanwhile, Alves has been named in the Brazil squad.
20 called up
Leo Messi is one of a squad of 20 announced today by Maradona. The
others are Carrizo (Lazio), Romero (AZ Alkmaar), Zanetti, Burdisso, Samuel (Inter Milan),
Demichelis (Bayern Munich), Heinze, Gago (Real Madrid), ‘Cata' Díaz (Getafe), Jonás Gutiérrez
(Mallorca), Agüero, Maxi Rodríguez (Atlético Madrid), Luis González, Lisandro (Oporto), Mascherano
(Liverpool), Lavezzi, Denis (Napoli), Di María (Benfica) and Tévez (Manchester United).
No midweek football
The game is being played on a week where there are no club games in Spain. Before the game in
France, Barça will have played Sporting Gijón at the Camp Nou and the weekend after they travel to
face Betis.
