One goal short of a ton

FC Barcelona are just one effort away from scoring an incredible 100 goals in official competitions this season after they netted twice against Real Mallorca on Thursday evening in the Copa del Rey.
The Camp Nou witnessed another victory by the Blaugrana as Thierry Henry scored the team’s
98th goal and Rafa Márquez struck the 99th to give Barça a 2-0 win. Pep Guardiola’s side is
just one goal away from the impressive milestone having played just 36 official matches this term.
65 in la Liga
It is in the league where Barcelona have broken several records as they
put in performances that have echoes of a different era with

59 goals in just 19 matches (averaging 3.1 goals-per-game). Now the team have neted 65 goals in 21
matches and are the top scorers in la Primera and have reach the club milestone of 5,000 league
goals earlier than expected. Samuel Eto’o is the current top goalscorer with 19 goals this
season in the league.
22 in the Champions League
The first official goals of the season came when Barça beat
Wisla Krakow 4-0 in August. Since then the Catalan tam has gone on two score 18 more goals in the
Champions League, with eight in two games against Sporting Clube, six against Basel and four
against Shakhtar Donetsk. Barça finished the group phase as the joint top scorers in the
competition.
12 in la Copa
In the Copa del Rey, the team has scored 12 goals this
season. Atlético de Madrid conceded five when taking on the Blaugrana over two legs, while Espanyol
let in three and Benidorm just two. Real Mallorca let two in during the first leg of the semi final
in midweek.
2.75 goals-per-game
The 99 goals in 36 matches this season gives Barça an average of 2.75 goals-per-game. At this
stage of the season last term, the side had netted 63 times, some 36 less in the same number of
games.
