Five outstanding cup players
Edgar Fornós
Thierry Henry, Bojan Krkic, José Manuel Pinto, Sylvinho and Eidur Gudjohnsen all stood out for different reasons when FC Barcelona beat Real Mallorca in the Copa del Rey semi final first leg on Thursday evening in Camp Nou.
The opening goal from Henry meant that Frenchman has now scored in all three competitions this
season for the Blaugrana this term. Pep Guardiola started the forward against Mallorca and in the
34th minute he scored his first Copa del Rey goal of the campaign to add to his 12 goals in la
Primera and his effort against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.
Bojan and Henry formed a successful partnership as three of
the last four assists from the Catalan youngster have concluded in goals for the French
international. The first came against Atlético de Madrid in week six of the season and eight games
later the pair combined to score against Valencia. On Thursday, Bojan picked out Henry with a cross
from the right and the forward nodded in the opener.
Pinto and Sylvinho are key players in the cup this term as
they are the only two to have played in every game. In all seven matches that the Blaugrana have
played in the competition, the goalkeeper and the defender have started in every one, completing a
total of 655 minutes played.
