Jordi Clos
The midfielder has now played in 250 competitive games for FC Barcelona. He made his debut in Bruges on 29 October 2002 and since then has been on the winning side in 62% of matches.
On Thursday against Majorca and at the age of 24, Andrés Iniesta played in his 250th competitive
match for Barça. He made his first team debut with Louis Van Gaal as manager on 29 October 2002 in
a Champions League group game in Bruges. In little more than six seasons the midfielder has played
in 169 League games, 46 in the Champions League, 26 in the King’s Cup, 3 in the UEFA Cup, 2
in the World Club Championship, 1 European Super Cup match and 3 Spanish Super Cup games.
Quality versatile player
Iniesta rapidly forged a place in the Barça team
and later on the Spanish national side due to superb technique and the ability to play in a number
of positions. Even though at first he was a traditional Barça number 4, he has gradually moved up
field and now combines the roles of midfielder and winger.
Extremely effective
Out of the 250 games Iniesta has played in, Barça has won 155
(62%), drawn 53 (21.2 %) and lost 42 (16.8%). He has also scored 20 goals, with 14 in the League, 4
in the Champions League and 2 in the Cup. This season he has found the net twice in the League and
has six assists in the three competitions.
