Eto'o: “Another game down and three more points”
Anna Segura
Samuel Eto’o scored two of the goals in today’s Barça v Sporting clash. He thinks the win is important at this stage of the season to keep the twelve-point lead over Madrid.
“Another game down and three more points.” That was Samuel Eto'o’s first reaction
when asked about the win over Sporting Gijon. He hopes the team can continue with its good form:
“I’d like the run to continue as we’re enjoying ourselves and let’s see if
we can go on that way.”
No easing up
Samuel Eto'o also thinks it’s important “to keep on our toes. If we ease up
anyone can beat us”. The striker thinks the treble is a possibility but says “we have
to take each game as it comes”.
“When you win you feel strong enough to continue and you don’t feel tired,”
he added.
Below are some comments from other Barça players:
Dani Alves:
“I’m chuffed about the three points. We’ve
got to keep on going this way and try to pick up three points from every game.”
“It was good goal. When you hit it well you can tell right away. The ball went in where
their keeper didn’t expect it.”
“The fans are right behind us.”
Andrés Iniesta:
“We have to use our counterattacks. Some teams come
here and park the bus and that way you can open up games.”
“Another game down and we’re still there, and that gives us all a boost.”
“My position is midfield and that’s where I feel happiest.”
Víctor Valdés:
“It’s important to keep on winning, especially as Madrid aren’t slipping
up. We need to keep that 12-point gap.”
“It’s important that we can keep that far ahead.”
