On Saturday, Barça will be travelling to a ground where they have only won twice on their last ten visits. At the Ruiz de Lopera they have only won 8 of the last 27 points at stake.
The first and fourteenth placed sides meet this weekend at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, and Barça
will be looking to make amends for some poor results on their trips to play the green and white
half of Seville.
8 out of 27
In the last ten years FC Barcelona have been to Betis 9 times
(as Betis played in the second division in 2000/01), and aside from the two wins, they have drawn
twice and lost no fewer than five times.
Difficult venue
In turn, Barça have not lost to Betis at the Camp Nou over the same period,
but it seems the Ruiz de Lopera is no happy hunting ground. The two wins were convincing enough
though, in the 1998/99 (0-3) and 2005/06 (1-4) seasons. Both of the draws ended 1-1, and came in
2003/04 and 2006/07.
The last time
The Catalan and Andalusian outfits last met at the Ruiz de Lopera in a game that Barça fans
would probably prefer to forget. Barça dominated the game and were 2-0 up after the first quarter
of an hour thanks to goals from Bojan and Eto'o. But a brace from Edú and another from Juanito in
the second half sealed a comeback that put a serous dent in Barça’s title aspirations.
