Alves returns to Betis
Edgar Fornós
Dani Alves is set to return top lay in the Ruiz de Lopera against Real Betis Balompié as a Barcelona player for the first time since leaving their arch rivals Sevilla.
Last season the Brazilian full-back would have been gearing up for a major derby date with the
Verdiblancos when he was still with Sevilla, but now he heads back to the stadium with the league
leaders as they go in search of three more points.
First season
In 2003-04, Alves played his first game against Betis and in that year
Sevilla drew both matches as the first game in the Sanchez Pizjuan ended 2-2, the game in the Ruiz
de Lopera finished 1-1 with the current Barça star playing 132 minutes throughout the two matches
and picking up a yellow card in each.

Better in home games
Games against Betis were evidently more successful for Alves when Sevilla were at home and
both his goals against them came in the Sanchez Pizjuan as he netted in the 05-06 campaign and in
the 07-08 season too. His statistics against them in home matches reads four wins and draw while in
the Ruiz de Lopera has lost twice and drawn two other games while winning just once.
