Eto'o makes Liga century
Jordi Clos
At the Ruiz de Lopera, the Cameroonian scored his 100th goal in the Liga for Barcelona. He is only the third player in club history to manage the feat.
At Betis, Samuel Eto'o has gone further in his claim to be one of the finest goalscorers this sport
has ever known. His 45th minute goal off the rebound of a penalty that had been saved by Ricardo
was his 22nd of the season, and his 100th league goal in a Barça shirt. He has done this in just
five seasons, one of which, 2005/06, he was the top scorer in the championship. And to think that
he could easily have scored even more if he hadn’t missed so much of the 2006/07 and 2007/08
seasons through injury.
César and Kubala
Samuel Eto'o is only the third player to ever celebrate a ton
of league goals for the club. The only other two were César Rodríguez (195) and Ladislau Kubala
(131). Behind Eto’o are Mariano Martín (97) and Patrick Kluivert (90).
Amazing stats
Eto'o only needed 131 games to make his century, an average of 0.76 goals a game. In total he
has scored 120 in 177 official matches (0.67 a game). As well as what are now 101 league goals, he
has scored 15 in the Champions League, 2 in the Cup and 2 in the Spanish Super Cup.
