Alves highlights persistence

Anna Segura

Dani Alves feels the team had shown the right attitude away to Betis on Saturday. He felt the most important thing was that they had managed to salvage a draw.

Former Sevilla man Dani Alve experienced yet another game at the Ruiz de Lopera, but for the first time in a Barça shirt. Although a Barça v Betis game cannot be compared to the famous Seville derby, Dani Alves knew that the draw was an important result as part of their league challenge.

Good attitude

The Barça full back was delighted with his colleagues’ attitude tonight. "This team’s persistence is incredible. It was an important point because from now on any point we can get will be important. … this team is tremendously ambitious ".

Samuel Eto'o:

“Guardiola asked me to open up the pitch and I told him that that if Leo plays on the wing we have a better chance of scoring. And it worked out well ".

"That is one game less to go and we are still making progress ".

"We were confident that we could get something out of the game. We are happy with a draw after a great game. We could have won by a lot ".

Gerard Piqué:

"The penalty helped us a lot. But I still think we should have scored earlier ".

"It is annoying not to have got two points but we have managed to extend our unbeaten run ".

"The team left a good image, especially in the second half. I hope we carry on like that ".

Víctor Valdés:

“We played well. The first half was a bit weak but in the second half we had chances to get all three points ".

"They have a very good attack and we expected them to create lots of chances ".

"We have to look ahead and try to get as many points as possible ".

Andrés Iniesta:

“It was penalty, he touched me inside the area”.

“They didn’t create a lot of danger. There were a couple of counter attacks, and that’s normal because we were playing on the attack. It was game we should have won”.
